"...Most of what I write is triggered by a
very specific approach to the drums. Usually,
Latin Jazz has been performed keeping a very
rigorous and traditional drum/percussion pattern,
thus locking the soloist and limiting the amount
of group interaction. It seemed that even though
from a harmonically standpoint music reached the
developmental stage of bebop, the rhythmic
approach was stuck on the beginning of the 20th
century." |
