no style he couldn't get 'inside' of...no 'object'
he couldn't play.

the 1st time i ever saw Pedro Ito was in Phat's Studio....i was a nobody.....still am.....he walked
into the room....& i was knocked OUT! by his Aura...it was a deep Violet & Amber...think what you
will...but i never saw anyone like this before....& the voice in my head said...'you want to work w/
him!....Ask him!!'

some time later, i saw him on the streets of Alston...I put my fingers on his heart....i wanted to
feel how it beat!!!....
I played this arrangement for him & he jumped to work w/ me.
. ITO!!! there is no one like you...May the Good Lord allow us to work together again. amen.

Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil,
Percussionist/Composer Pedro Ito had his first
contact with the drums at the age of fourteen. He
began his professional career teaching in music
schools and performing with local artists. In
1994, Pedro joined the band of Arnaldo Antunes,
one of the most respected singer/songwriters in
Brazil. During the five years he toured with
Arnaldo, Pedro played on three albums for BMG
Records, working with some of the most legendary
names in Brazilian music including Gilberto Gil,
Marisa Monte, Carlinhos Brown, and Chico
Science.
In 1999, Pedro moved to the USA to study at
Berklee College of Music, graduating in 2002.
Since coming to the U.S., he's appeared and/or
recorded with Paquito de Rivera, John Patitucci,
Joey Calderazo, The Fringe, David Pietro, Marta
Gomez, Weatheroutpost12 and Luciana Souza. In
addition to Jazz, Pedro has been exploring global
music with musicians from Turkey, Greece, Lebanon,
India, Senegal, Mali, Peru, Colombia, Panama, and
Cuba.
