Bo & Dabo's 1st gig was Fred & Wilma's wedding
reception - that started an illustrious career
that has spanned eons. Da boyz were travelin' in a
VW bus and passin' the hat in Christian coffee
houses before the term "Contemporary Christian
Music" was coined by the Nashville Fat Cats &
music mogels.
Back in the day t`wuz called Gospel Rock and we
gigged with the likes of Randy Matthews, Larry
Norman, The Sheep, The Resurrection Band, etc.
Then out comes Debbie Boone with "My Father's
Eyes" & neon $ signs start blinking in Nashville.
Gospel Music rushed to set up tables in the Temple
courtyard & to this day sells doves by the ton.
What are 2 disillusioned boyz gonna do? We
crawled home to Mama. Da boyz hit the road with
Mama Willadean (aka The Mississippi Songbird) for
many years playing OLD time Gospel gigs at
impressive venues like Fiery Gizzard Baptist
Church and The Bucksnort Pentecostal Tabernacle
(we know... we're shameless name-droppers). Big
Daddy Bill would do the preachin' - we had a grand
ole time.
Alas, "life's a vapor" - Big Daddy Bill
developed dementia and The Mississippi Songbird
had a stroke. What to do, what to do? Thinking
back to Bedrock and the bedrock of Rock-N-Roll in
dere souls - da boyz decided to remain broke and
focus on having fun with what days dey gots left.
In working up a show and video taping it to see
what dey got - da boyz came to a stark
realization: two 50+ old men inspired by The
Beatles & the Stones look kinda ridiculous tryin'
to rock out and play to crowds who've never walked
across the room to change a TV channel (not to
mention feed and water Dino).
After much prayer and meditation, da boyz
turned to the source of ALL American music - dem
Blues. Christian music set to da Blues? "Heresy!"
the establishment cries... "there's no such thing
as blues in the Christian lifestyle!"
To them -
we impolitely thumb our noses. In da 50 + years we
been livin' for the Lord we've experienced
divorce, financial ruin, alcoholism, visiting
loved ones in jail, deaths of old drugs, sex &
Rock-N-Roll buddies and it ain't been happy, happy
- joy, joy all dat time.
So what's yer point? Whadda ya got dat anybody
else ain't got? H-O-P-E in Christ.
KAZKILL put out "Code Blues" (a reference to
the Big Brother world in which we live) in 2006
and in May of 2007 released "Dance of Innocence".
In large part due to their Rock-N-Roll background
their 1st offering produced Chicago style Blues
which ain't really what 2 boyz from da glorious
Southland are all about. "Dance" is much more that
inbred Delta groove. Bo & Dabo are already in the
studio working on an accoustic Blues project that
reminisces their poor white trash
Mississippi/Tennessee heritage even more closely.
KAZKILL'z produced lotsa projects over the
years but only 2 matter at this time: "Code Blues"
& "Dance of Innocence". Keep watching... dem boyz
ain't dead yet.
