Zero Ground CD Release Party Wrap-up

Chad Nantais Debut CD Release Party for Zero GroundDecember 6th at Flux in Vancouver

Had my debut CD release party last night. My 6-piece band played 4 tracks from ZeroGround to a full house in the intimate and very appropriate setting of Flux Bistro.

Some who also know me as a computer geek seemed pleasantly surprised to see me in the role of bandleader and composer. The response from the audience was electric. When I did my rounds after, many agreed that the term "Neo-fusion" adequately describes this musical project and mentioned that it truly defies existing categories and is like "nothing you ever heard before". The message from the guests was pretty unified: this is great music that will go the distance. Most expressed fascination over the intricacy of the pieces and how the different instruments played off of one another.

The band had a great time playing together. We opened with Zero Ground and as we played it, I could sense that the audience was experiencing something new to their ears and they were very captivated. When the song was done, we were hit with a wave of applause. I can't wait to play more gigs with this group, the chemistry is amazing and everyone is so talented, each bringing their own unique musical signature to the project. They are: Poib, Mimi Li, Trevor Sather, Todd Biffard and Nick Apivor. Thanks guys, for being adventurous enough to want to play this music. Also, thanks to all the guests who were adventurous and curious enough to come out and give this music a chance.

When I got home, I was happy to see that CD orders are already coming in through chadnantais.com.

Vancouverblogger Miss604 was in attendance and has also written a post about the Zero Ground release party.

Next steps: posting the video from last night's show and preparing for more local gigs around Vancouver.
